The bird flew across the top of the canopy and her eyes followed it until it could no longer be seen. The air was damp and cool and the sunlight streamed down from above to the bottom of the rain forest. Surrounded by the array of greens and browns her bare feet made minimal sound on the damp forest floor. A slight skip and a low hum was the only noise from her and it melded and blended with the sounds around her, everything was alive and living, whispering trees gossiped and the animals went about their business. Coming through the trees and moving forward ever so gracefully over the fallen logs the sound of the rushing water became louder and louder. The bubble, hiss and crackling of its force began to echo over everything else. Parting the trees she stood in the small clearing and sucked in her breath at the beautiful scene that played out before her eyes which never failed to send a shiver down the back of her very soul.

“He has painted this scene into reality for you”

Picking her way delicately down the steep decent to the area where the flow was gentle and easy to swim in, she began to undress and dived into the clear and cool water. Under the water she skimmed easily across to the other side of the watering hole, her feet kicking with ease and her long hair streaming behind her, glistening in the rays of sunlight which pierced the water and speared its way to the depths. Arising and taking a deep breath, she ran her hands across her face from the base of her nose and up over her eyes, forehead and down the back of her head. Then she floated easily bobbing up and down and looking around her. Swimming back to shore she sat upon some rocks low in the water to be warmed by the sun. The sound of the rushing water into the water hole was mesmerising and she found her thoughts miles and miles away from any reality. Back to a time when there was another who sat along side her… As the sun moved across the sky she slowly untangled herself from the past and as the wind kissed her lips, it signaled the time to go back into the damp and cool forest of where her true self lived.
