New Years Resolutions
January 15th, 2010 by RoseEach year I like to write down a few things I’d like to achieve for the year and usually I’m pretty good at completing them. Last years sadly got swallowed up by the aftermath of the fires but this year I’m determined to succeed.
So, here they are…
NEW YEARS RESOLUTION 2010
Deliver a healthy baby boy
Build a chicken coop & get chickens
Start a vegetable garden
Buy a Cabana Caravan (26/02/10 bought one)
See Jenna (Booked her ticket to Aus for 2 months arriving beginning of June *yay*)
Memories of Van
November 16th, 2009 by RoseI watched Dead Man Walking the other day, I’ve seen some of it before, it’s a pretty old film now. It’s about a guy who is on death row and the salvation of his soul through Jesus before he dies, encouraged by a young nun.
There was a point in the film, where the clock is ticking down the final minutes of his life and it took me back to the night when Steve and I sat in vigil on the 2nd December 2005 minutes and seconds before the hanging of a young Australian boy Van Tuong Nguyen after being convicted of drug trafficking in Singapore. I don’t know the circumstances of how he got in so deep. But I felt compassion for him because I have done stupid stupid things in my life, and I think how thankful I was able to find a new way, a new life and grow and evolve into who I am today. He never got the chance to do that.
Blast from the past
June 22nd, 2009 by RoseI could have fallen out of my chair yesterday when I got a Twitter follow request from a fellow I used to create havoc in a chat room with many many moons ago. We lost contact when his email bounced, I have to say I am so so so excited to hear from him and his wife again. I even convinced them to install MSN just so we could ‘live’ chat.
So glad they found me through Google, though I have tried so many times to find them with no luck. There are not many people I know I can be my usual spanky zany self with and those two were some of the few. It was so crazy cool to banter with them again and I can’t wait to finally do it again soon.
I used to have a fetish for frogs, and they used to send me lots of froggy stuff in the mail, my fav ever being a huge stuffed frog who can reach around your waist and neck, I love him to bits though he freaks little kids out a bit hehe. I owe them some postage loving big time, so time to put my thinking cap on for what to send them…
OK well I just had a massive meal at the pub after this morning weighing in my best weight ever in ages (lol) so I better scoot for a few klms on the treadmill before I fall into bed. Toodles.
New additions to the family
June 18th, 2009 by Rose
Edward
So we have a few new additions to the family. Edward and Zachary arrive on July 4th. Edward is the one with the one white leg and Zachary is the one with the Nike stripe (LOL). They are Damara sheep, or also known as ‘hair sheep’. They don’t require sheering, nor tail docking, a lot like goats but less adventurous in escaping which will suit my property. No more sitting on the ride on for hours in the back paddock (hoorah!).
Not sure how Robert and Alice will react to their new siblings, but I am sure in no time they’ll all be fine. The boys will still be bottle fed when they arrive, and too small to interact with Bob and Alice yet so they’ll only be able to greet them through the fence.

Zachary
Edward is currently 3 1/2 weeks and Zachary is 2 weeks. The names you ask? Well, Edward after the lead character of Twilight who is very easy on the eye and I love his romantic character (so girly I know but hey we can all dream right?) and Zachary after Zachary Quinto who plays Sylar in Heroes, who is also very easy on the eye and an intriquing character.
Robert was named after Robert Goren on Law & Order – Criminal Intent who I also find good looking and an intriquing character and Alice, well she wasn’t actually named after anyone, I just though Alice was a cute name. Yeah I know, what can I say – a little strange but hey, that’s me right ;)
Looking forward
June 3rd, 2009 by RoseIt’s been a great few weeks for me, mostly due to the fact I’ve not seen anyone and have just been able to ‘be’. It’s been a nice break away from the headaches of a fractured community which surrounds me.
We are looking forward to our holiday towards the end of July to go see Jenna, Steve’s family and our friends in Europe. I miss France, I feel so relaxed there – the people and the architecture. It’s been so long since we’ve had a holiday! I am really looking forward to it, especially since we are going to be treated to camping ‘Rock n’ Roll’ style with Steve’s dads band and a group of their awesome friends by a lake :)
It’ll be nice to have one last opportunity to enjoy summer this year!
Twilight
May 27th, 2009 by RoseI really really didn’t want to, but found myself enjoying the movie Twilight, so much so I have watched it a number of times now (not gonna tell you how many in total!). I’ve been listening to the audio books while I exercise for a couple of hours each day. I’m not as into the books as much as the movie, the Bella character is very annoying in the books whereas in the movie she is a little more independant. Though this is slowly changing as I get into the second book of the series New Moon.
So I have a huge crush on Robert Pattison, he is so hot in the movie though my mother and sister strongly disagree, I reckon he is a lil cutey. I’m looking forward to the next movie coming out later in the year. In the meantime, am enjoying the books.
Bushfire assistance
February 17th, 2009 by RoseWe were caught up in the recent Victoria bushfires in the Kinglake Ranges region. We have been astounded at the generosity of both the Australian public and businesses (and overseas folks too!) in the weeks following the fire.
The tragedy which occurred will take a long time to heal over and for homes, businesses and lives to be rebuilt.
We’d like to take this opportunity to thank a number of individuals, organisations and businesses which have been generous in offering us assistance during this difficult time.
