Well Mum left Melbourne and is currently flying high in the air at a steady pace towards London. She arrives tomorrow morning at 5:30am which means we will have to leave here at about 3am!

I am so excited and I can’t wait to see her!! :)

Argos sucks

April 27th, 2005 by Rose

This country is really crap in it’s service delivery. We ordered a futon couch at the start of April, it is supposed to take UPTO 28 days for it to arrive, we figure fine, by then Mum will be here and we will all have something to sit on. While its just Steve and I it’s not so bad we can watch TV in bed if we don’t want to sit at the dinner table in the lounge (the only chairs we have at the moment besides the computer chairs).

So they are supposed to arrive this week, and we get a letter saying it’s going to be even more of a wait. I rang them up, I was so peeved. But they don’t care. ‘Wait for it or cancel the order’ was the reply I got.

Nearly every thing we bought in this country besides the refrigerator was an absolute nightmare.

So now we won’t have a couch/sofa thingy until the probably after our trip to France. They said they ‘anticipate’ receiving the stock from the supplier by the 16th May. Which means who knows when it will actually arrive to us.

Ugh, they are so frustrating. If I had the extra money I would get it elsewhere, but the thing is they wouldn’t care.

No one cares about good customer service anymore. Businesses don’t care if they inconvenience you, they don’t care if they lie and cheat you into buying things under false pretences. It sucks.

Weather

April 21st, 2005 by Rose

Today is a lovely 14.5C outside. Back in Melbourne if someone was wearing a Tshirt around in 14.5C weather you would laugh at them from within the comfort of your wooley jumper and jacket.

Over in the UK however, the weather is considerably different. 14.5C is actually a really warm day and a Tshirt or even a singlet top is ok.

When it was around 1-3C during the day in winter here in the UK, even when there was snow, it was cold, but not the kind of bone chilling cold I experienced back home in Melbourne.

There is probably some scientific reason for it all, but I do have to digress now after chastising Steve one day on the phone when he was over here and I was in Australia, he would tell me it was a hot day and he had the air conditioning in the car on, it was 23C.

Now I am thinking, hmm if a 14.5C day is perfect, then how will I be when it is 25C+ that they get here in summer? We scored an air-conditioner from Steve’s work which I am sure will come in much use.

It is so nice to see the blue skies and sunshine again, two winters in a row was a bit much.

Humble…

April 20th, 2005 by Rose

Humble the soul who can spread himself around like a thin layer of water, seeping into the dry and depleted community. Fill the jar with rocks, then pebbles, then sand and then water until you are full up, overflow and touch all those who come to gather to be inspired.
